OLD - DO NOT USE Janice K. and Timothy I. Maudlin St. Andrew Lutheran Church Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Janice K. and Timothy I. Maudlin St. Andrew Lutheran Church Endowed Scholarship Fund at Luther Seminary was established in 2013 to honor Jan and Tim Maudlin’s deep passion for educating and developing future leaders for Christian communities like St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie. Jan and Tim met while students at St. Olaf College and were married in 1973. Jan and Tim along with their two children, Eric and Laurie, joined St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie in 1983. Reflecting Jan’s passion for music, children, and Bible study she was the Canticle Choir accompanist for more than twenty-five years, Starlite Choir Director for fifteen years, a member of the leadership group launching St. Andrew’s preschool and day care programs, and an active Bible study participant on an individual basis in addition to teaming with Tim in leading and hosting a couples Bible study group in their home for more than fifteen years. Living in grace by faith for Christ’s sake and reflecting their joint passion for the education and development of future leaders for Christian communities, Jan and Tim initially and for several years funded St. Andrew’s scholarship program for Luther Seminary students who are active members of St. Andrew. The scholarship support of Luther Seminary students who at the time were St. Andrew members has grown cumulatively to be more than the scholarship support from any other ELCA congregation. Further reflecting their passion for the education and development of future leaders Tim is humbled by and honored to serve on the Luther Seminary Board of Directors beginning in 2009; also to serve on the St. Olaf Board of Regents beginning in 2012. This scholarship will provide important support for deserving M.Div. students at Luther Seminary who are members of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie.
