George P., Dorothy, and David Larson Endowed Scholarship Fund
The George P., Dorothy, and David Larson Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in January, 2007, to honor the memory of the Rev. George P. Larson by his wife, Dorothy, and their children, Joy Peterson, Dr. James Larson, the Rev. David Larson, Rebecca Hildebrand, and Paul Larson. George was a 1944 graduate of Luther Theological Seminary who served parishes in South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Arizona; he founded several congregations in the Phoenix, Ariz., area. Dorothy’s brother, the Rev. Joseph Huseth, is a 1954 graduate of Luther Theological Seminary, and George and Dorothy’s son, David, is a 1975 graduate of Luther Theological Seminary. This fund provides important support for financially deserving students from Region 3 of the ELCA, with first preference for students from rural South Dakota, and second preference for students from anywhere in South Dakota. The George P. and Dorothy Larson Directed Scholarship fund was established through an estate gift from George and Dorothy and provides additional scholarship support for the same purposes as the Larson Endowed Scholarship Fund. For the purposes of this report, the market value and gifts to fund values of Larson Endowed Fund and Larson Directed Fund are combined.
