Maurice and Beatrice Derscheid/Charles and Lois Jackson Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Maurice and Beatrice Derscheid/Charles and Lois Jackson Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by Charles and Lois Jackson in January, 2009. Charles and Lois were teachers and throughout their lifetimes have been members of small, rural communities and congregations. Currently they are members of Long Lake Lutheran Church in Sarona, Wis. They wanted to honor Lois’s parents by setting up this scholarship fund at Luther Seminary. Lois’s parents gave them land, which they placed in a charitable trust that, along with additional current gifts, will fund this scholarship. Charles and Lois, through the scholarship fund, are strengthening educational opportunities and also the church through their support of the education of future leaders for the church. They also are lifting up the importance of intentional, faithful ministry in rural areas. Their fund at Luther Seminary provides scholarships to Lutheran students from small rural towns who are in the Master of Divinity program.
