The Pastor Alvin and Phoebe Bergh Endowed Scholarship Fund at Luther Seminary
Rev. Alvin and Phoebe Berge established The Pastor Alvin and Phoebe Bergh Endowed Scholarship Fund in 2021. Rev. Alvin and Phoebe Bergh have a passion for serving underserved and vulnerable populations. Alvin through his non-profit work in Chicago as the Executive Director of Lutheran Family Mission and serving parishes throughout the Midwest and Phoebe in her work as a nurse and hospital administrator at Belmont Hospital in Chicago. Both have committed themselves to loving and serving their neighbor in many ways throughout their lives. In recognition of his ministry in the inner city and his work with minorities, Pastor Bergh received the Augustana Alumni Award and the Faithfulness in Ministry award from Luther Seminary. Both met and graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Alvin is originally from South Dakota and Phoebe was born in Canada and raised in Minnesota.
The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarships annually for any deserving Native American student; any minority student; or any deserving student attending Luther Seminary.
