Terry and Shireen Hoff Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Terry and Shireen Hoff Endowed Scholarship Fund is established to commemorate the life and work of Ray and Marcia (Anderson) Erb, Shireen’s aunt and uncle. Their depression-era farm, located outside of Minot, North Dakota, is the source of the funding for this endowment. Though they started with nothing, Ray never felt he owned the farm. “I’m just a caretaker for God,” he often said. The land passed to their Goddaughter, Shireen Hoff, and eventually it will go to her daughters, Claire and Sarah. Both Shireen and Terry Hoff have had long ‘caretaking’ careers. Terry was president and CEO of Trinity Hospital in Minot and Shireen was a health care executive whose career included hospital management, statewide nursing education and grant administration. Terry and Shireen recognize how crucial education is to future leaders of the church and how the cost of a theological education can be a barrier to gifted potential leaders. They establish this scholarship to help reduce student debt enabling new pastors to answer call to places like Western North Dakota. This scholarship provides support to deserving M.Div. students.
