Henry and Edna Sunde Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Henry and Edna Sunde Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in December, 1980, by Henry and Edna Sunde. Edna was a school teacher for nine years, and Henry was a farmer and groundskeeper for the local cemetery. The Sundes were active lay leaders in their congregation, Nordland Lutheran Church in Paynesville, Minn., who recognized Luther Seminary as an important training ground for future church leaders. They established this fund in response to the ALC’s Seminary Appeal to help make a seminary education financially accessible for students from all walks of life. Edna died in March, 2003 and Henry died in May, 2008. This fund provides important financial support for deserving students enrolled in any degree program.
