George P., Dorothy, and David Larson Directed Scholarship Fund.

The George P. and Dorothy Larson Scholarship Fund was established in January, 2007, to honor the memory of the Rev. George P. Larson by his wife, Dorothy, and their children, Joy Peterson, Dr. James Larson, the Rev. David Larson, Rebecca Hildebrand, and Paul Larson. George was a 1944 graduate of Luther Theological Seminary who served parishes in South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Arizona; he founded several congregations in the Phoenix, Ariz., area. Dorothy’s brother, the Rev. Joseph Huseth, is a 1954 graduate of Luther Theological Seminary, and George and Dorothy’s son, David, is a 1975 graduate of Luther Theological Seminary. This fund provides important support for financially deserving students from Region 3 of the ELCA, with first preference for students from rural South Dakota, and second preference for students from anywhere in South Dakota. Earnings from this fund will be combined with the George P. and Dorothy Larson Endowed Scholarship Fund to provide a larger source for scholarship distributions.
