Oscar A. Benson Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Oscar A. Benson Endowed Scholarship Fund was established on October 7, 1999, by Hilvie Ostrow in memory of her father, the Rev. Oscar Benson. Hilvie is a 1982 graduate of Northwestern Theological Seminary. The fund was established to give thanks to God as an expression of her stewardship and to help Luther Seminary students prepare to extend and share the good news of Jesus Christ during their lives of service to the church. In so doing, they will follow in the footsteps of earlier church leaders such as her father, Oscar A. Benson, who served as the last full-time president of the Augustana Synod. This fund provides important support for financially deserving students interested in social action, evangelism, or world missions.
