Richard and Deloris Nelson Current Scholarship Fund

The Richard and Deloris Nelson Current Scholarship Fund at Luther Seminary was established in 2014 by Pastor Nelson in honor of his wife Deloris Nelson who died in 2013. Deloris was raised in Watertown, South Dakota. Richard and Deloris graduated from Augustana College in 1942. Deloris served as secretary to Dr. Olaf G. Malmin, editor of the Lutheran Herald. After Richard completed his studies at Luther Seminary in 1945, he and Deloris were partners in life and ministry in these settings: parish ministry in South Dakota; the Lutheran World Federation in Geneva, Switzerland; Grace Lutheran Church in St. Paul, Minnesota; Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville, Minnesota; Calvary Lutheran Church in Golden Valley, Minnesota. This fund is established to help African students gain their seminary education at Luther Seminary so they can build up the churches in Africa.
