Theodore S. Okland Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Theodore S. Okland Endowed Scholarship Fund was established December 10, 2007, through an estate gift from the Rev. Theodore “Ted” Okland, who died September 3, 2007, at age 68. Theodore Okland was born April 3, 1939, in Meiganga, Cameroon, and raised in Forest City, Iowa. He graduated from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn., and received a doctorate from Andover Newton Theological School in Boston. He was a Lutheran minister in congregations in Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Baker City and Redmond, Oregon, and retired from McCook, Nebraska. Pastor Okland designated the scholarship for financially deserving M.Div. students preparing for ordination and full-time service in the ELACA who have a “B” grade point average, as an encouragement for students who may be challenged in achieving high grades in their academic coursework.
