Paul and Ruth Hauge Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Paul and Ruth Hauge Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2014 to honor the memory of Paul Hauge’s grandparents, Rev. Anders and Kari Hauge, and his parents, Phillip and Anna Hauge. The Hauge family has had a long and very positive connection with Luther Seminary and has been blessed to have family members as graduates and faculty members of Luther Seminary. ;;Ruth grew up on a farm near Aitkin, Minn., and after high school completed the nursing program at Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis in 1954. She later received a degree in long term care from the University of Minnesota and has been active with our congregation, Bethlehem Lutheran in Minneapolis, and with many other volunteer activities in the area. Paul grew up in Dennison, Minn., and after high school graduated from St. Olaf College in 1954 with a B.A. in history and economics. After two years in the US Air Force, he entered law school at the University of Chicago and received a J.D. degree in 1961. He was in private law practice in Minneapolis and later in Eagan, Minn., for over fifty years. He also has been active at Bethlehem Lutheran as well as numerous other volunteer programs in the Twin Cities area. Paul and Ruth were married in Aitkin, Minn., in 1957 and have been blessed with three wonderful, caring children—Leah, Rebecca and Charles—and granddaughters Laura and Rachel. In addition to remembering those who blessed them on their way, they wish to honor their children and grandchildren in the creation of this endowed scholarship. This endowed scholarship provides important support annually for a deserving M.Div. student at Luther Seminary preparing for public church ministry.
