Mark and Sandy Jerstad Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Pastor Mark and Sandy Jerstad Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by Sandy Jerstad in August, 1998. The Rev. Mark Jerstad received his Master of Divinity degree from Luther Theological Seminary in 1968 and served as a parish pastor in International Falls, Minn., and as a campus pastor at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, S.D., before joining the Good Samaritan Society as Director of Personnel and eventually becoming President and CEO of that organization. Sandy continues to be an active lay leader in her congregation. In addition, before retirement, she served as a coach and assistant professor at Augustana University and also served as a South Dakota State Senator. This fund was established to honor the life and memory of Mark Jerstad, who died of colon cancer in 1997, and provides important financial support without regard to financial need to academically deserving students with preference for graduates of Augustana University in Sioux Falls, S.D.
