Bill and Connie Lowe Endowed Scholarship Fund for Montana Students
The Bill and Connie Lowe Endowed Scholarship Fund for Montana Students was established on September 8, 2004, by Bill and Connie Lowe. Bill was an active businessman whose career included selling steel during the Great Depression, working for the Naval Combat Engineering Division in World War II, running a construction business, and serving two terms as a state senator. His hobbies included playing piano and saxophone, flying airplanes, hunting, and fishing. He was the second young man in Montana to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout through the Boy Scouts of America. His wife, Connie, continues to be an active lay leader in their congregation, American Lutheran Church in Billings, Mont., who recognizes Luther Seminary as a training ground for future church leaders. The fund was created to give thanks for the blessings of God bestowed upon their family and their community of faith and to help Luther Seminary students prepare to extend and share the good news of Jesus Christ during their lives of service to the church. This fund provides important financial support for deserving students from the Montana Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church with preference for members of American Lutheran Church in Billings, Mont.
