The Janice K. and Timothy I. Maudlin Endowed Scholarship Fund for St. Olaf Graduates at LS

The Janice K. and Timothy I. Maudlin Endowed Scholarship Fund for St. Olaf Students at Luther Seminary was established in 2013 and reflects Jan and Tim’s gratitude for the blessings of three generations of St. Olaf graduates in their families and their passion for the education and development of future leaders for Christian communities. Jan ’72 and Tim ’73 met as students at St. Olaf and were married in 1973. St. Olaf’s liberal arts education rooted in the Christian Gospel of grace by faith for Christ’s sake helped prepare them for lives of service to others. Reflecting their joint passion for the education and development of future leaders for Christian communities, Jan and Tim initially, and for several years, funded a Lutheran congregation’s scholarship program for its active members who were also Luther Seminary students. Today this scholarship program has grown cumulatively to be more than that of any other ELCA congregation to Luther Seminary. Further reflecting their family’s gratitude for both St. Olaf College and Luther Seminary, Tim is humbled by and honored to serve on the Luther Seminary Board of Directors beginning in 2009 and the St. Olaf Board of Regents beginning in 2012.The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarships annually to one or more deserving and academically exceptional students at Luther Seminary with a preference for M.Div. candidates who are graduates of St. Olaf.
