Charleen and Donald Weidenbach Endowed Scholarship
The Charleen and Donald Weidenbach Endowed Scholarship Fund at Luther Seminary was created in 2014. Don and Charleen were faithful donors to Luther Seminary’s mission since the 1980’s and members of the Heritage Society since 2002. Charleen graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead. After college she was employed by St. Paul Hoist and Derrick Company and lived in St. Anthony Park near Luther Seminary. Charleen met Don on a blind date. Don graduated from South Dakota State University in electrical engineering and worked for Sperry Univac on early digital computers. Charleen and Don were active members at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Bloomington, MN. The Weidenbachs maintained many friendships and hobbies, such as gardening, woodworking, knitting, choral singing, and exercise classes. Don served on the Plymouth Christian Youth Center Board and loved the Wilderness Canoe Base camp which it sponsored. Charleen developed a program in the Bloomington-Richfield area for nine churches called LIFE (Learning is Forever) that offers wonderful adult education programs. This scholarship provides important support for deserving Luther Seminary students preparing to serve in God’s world.
