Wangberg Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Wangberg Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by Harriet Wangberg in July, 1973, to honor the memories of both her husband, the Rev. Reuben Wangberg, and his father, the Rev. J. O. Wangberg. Reuben Wangberg was a graduate of Luther Theological Seminary, class of 1941, who served rural congregations in Iowa, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Minnesota before his unexpected death on May 31, 1973. Contributions to this fund were made by family and friends at the time of his funeral. Following the death of Reuben’s brother, the Rev. Orlando Wangberg, in 1984, the scholarship was renamed to honor his memory as well. Three generations of the Wangbergs—J.O., Reuben and Orlando, and two of Reuben’s sons, the Rev. Rolf Wangberg and the Rev. Mark Wangberg—graduated from Luther Theological Seminary. This fund provides important financial support for deserving students with preference for students from Thief River Falls, Glyndon or Madison, Minn.; Webster or Lemmon, S.D.; or Rolfe, Iowa.
