Theodore and Nan Monson Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Theodore and Nan Monson Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 1994 by Nan Monson through a gift from her estate. Theodore and Nan were active lay leaders in their congregation, Augustana Lutheran in Minot, N.D. They had no surviving children, but were especially close to their nephew, Brad Peterson, who received his Master of Divinity degree from Northwestern Lutheran Theological Seminary in 1979. Nan was remembered by her family as being very proud of her Swedish heritage and as turning to the church as a stabilizing force in her life as she lived out her faith in the face of personal tragedies. This fund was established to honor the lives and memories of Theodore and Nan Monson, and provides important support for financially deserving students with preference for students preparing for rural ministry.
