Marvin and Nora Gulsrud Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Marvin L. and Nora S. Gulsrud Endowed Scholarship Fund was created through two charitable gift annuities that Marvin and Nora Gulsrud established. Marvin was a J.C. Penney store manager in Sioux City, Iowa from 1961 to 1972. Later the Gulsruds lived in Odin, Minnesota, and Spokane, Washington. Marvin and Nora were college sweethearts at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. They married in 1938. Marvin served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. His volunteer roles included chairing the boards of St. Luke’s Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, and Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Marvin and Nora were longtime members of Central Lutheran Church in Spokane, Washington. Marvin died April 19, 2010, and Nora died April 9, 2004. Distributions from the fund will provide scholarships to deserving students at Luther Seminary in any degree program.
