Bonnie and Peter Raquet Endowed Scholarship Fund at Luther Seminary
Peter Raquet served as an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America from 1981 until his retirement in 2007. He served congregations in St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota, Geneva, Switzerland, Washington D.C., and Wisconsin. For 16 years of his ministry, he served full time as an Intentional Interim Pastor in eight congregations, focusing particularly on mission, vision and redevelopment. Peter has served as the Chair of the Advisory Council of TechnoServe, Inc. an economic development organization serving the poor in Africa, Central and South America and Asia. He provides consulting and leadership support to the Institute for Leadership and Service at Valparaiso University. He also served as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Institute of Agriculture at Tumaini, Iringa, Tanzania. Peter received his B.A. and M.A.L.S. degrees from Valparaiso University and his M.Div. degree from Luther Seminary. He also earned a Masters of Human Resource Development degree from Webster University in Geneva, Switzerland and a D.Min. degree from Wesley Seminary in Washington D.C.
Bonnie Raquet worked as in-house legal counsel for Cargill, Incorporated from 1982 – 1997, including three years in the Geneva, Switzerland office. She then served as the head of Cargill’s Washington, DC office from 1997-2000 and as Cargill’s Corporate Vice President, Corporate Affairs from 2000 until her retirement in 2011. During this time, she led Cargill’s worldwide corporate affairs activities, including government relations, media, communications, brand management, marketing services and corporate responsibility. She also represented Cargill’s business and corporate policy interests. Bonnie served as Trustee of the Luther Seminary Foundation from 2009 to 2017, and was Chair of the Luther Seminary Foundation’s Board of Trustees from 2012 to 2017. She also served on the Board of Trustees of Valparaiso University from 2000 – 2021, including as Vice-Chair of that Board. She currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of Thrivent Financial, as Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of The World Food Program USA, and is an Advisory Council member for TechnoServe, Inc. Bonnie received her B.A. from Valparaiso University, her M.A. in History from Cleveland State University and her J.D. (cum laude) from the University of Minnesota Law School. Bonnie and Peter are members of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, VA. Their daughter, Rebecca, her husband and two children live in Washington, D.C.
