Oliver and Emma Berven Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Rev. Oliver and Emma Berven Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in December, 2001, by the Rev. Oliver and Emma Berven. Oliver is a 1964 graduate of Luther Theological Seminary and served for over twenty years at Calvary Lutheran Church in Golden Valley, Minn., where the Bervens still worship. Both Oliver and Emma grew up in the San Francisco Bay area. Oliver worked for many years in the carpet business in California before Oliver and Emma moved to Minnesota with their four children so that he could attend seminary. This fund was established to express their thanksgiving to God and to help Luther Seminary prepare to strengthen and extend the ministries of Jesus Christ in the church and the world. This fund provides important support for financially deserving M.Div. students preparing for ordination and full-time parish ministry in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
