Soltvedt President's Emergency Endowment Fund
The Soltvedt President’s Emergency Endowment Fund was established in April, 1991, by the Rev. John and Susanne Soltvedt. John is a 1962 graduate of Luther Theological Seminary and has served as a parish pastor and as a chaplain in Wisconsin. He served in the U.S. Navy for nineteen years and survived ships sinking twice during World War II. Susanne is a former medical technologist and has served as the parish administrator for Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Tomah, Wis. Their daughter, Kristin Soltvedt Rinaldi, is a 1988 graduate of Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary and has served congregations in New York, Minnesota, and Mexico. John and Susanne established this fund to express their thanksgiving to God and to help Luther Seminary students prepare to strengthen and extend the ministries of Jesus Christ in the church and the world. This fund provides important support for financially deserving students selected at the president’s discretion as unforeseen needs arise.
