Ervin and Violet Markman Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Ervin and Violet Markman Endowed Scholarship Fund was established on April 6, 2007, by Bill and Monica McCullough. The fund was established to give thanks for the lives and ministries of pastors who have served faithfully throughout the church. Realizing the financial strain facing seminary students today and the shortage of pastors resulting from it, they gave this scholarship to encourage students to pursue ordained ministry in the Lutheran church. Their hope is that the students who receive this award will extend and share the good news of Jesus Christ during their lives of service to the church. This fund provides important support for financially deserving M.Div. students with first preference for members of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, second preference for members of the Twin River Conference of the ELCA in Iowa, and third preference for members of the Western Iowa Synod of the ELCA.
