Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church of North Minneapolis Endowed Scholarship Fund

After 96 years of ministry, the members of Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church of North Minneapolis celebrate the life of a congregation that flourished from its founding by 55 Swedish immigrants until the closing of the congregation in 2010. As a fitting celebration of almost a century of ministry, the congregation created the Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church of North Minneapolis Endowed Scholarship Fund at Luther Seminary, to create a lasting legacy that would provide scholarship support for future leaders of the larger church. In doing so, members remembered with love those who brought their children to Bethel for baptism, those who confirmed their faith in Jesus Christ and committed themselves to the Christian life, those who pledged their love to one another at Bethel’s altar, and those who committed deceased loved ones to God’s everlasting love and care. They also remembered and gave thanks to all members who had served God by serving others through Bethel, and all those servants of God who led Bethel in worship, who preached the Word and who administered the sacraments. Through the legacy of this endowed scholarship fund, the congregation will continue to serve God. This scholarship is designated for financially deserving Master of Divinity students who are members of a Minneapolis Area Synod ELCA congregation with a preference for those from urban ministry settings.
