Joseph and Naime Bergquist Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Joseph and Naime Bergquist Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in January, 2000, by Naime Bergquist to honor the memory of her husband. Joseph was a graduate of Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago who served as a pastor in Illinois, Kansas, Iowa, and Minnesota. The Bergquists recognized Luther Seminary as an important training ground for future church leaders. Naime established this fund to express her thanksgiving to God and to help Luther Seminary students prepare to strengthen and extend the ministries of Jesus Christ in the church and the world. Joseph died in October, 1985. Naime died in October, 2002. This fund provides important support for financially deserving M.Div. students preparing for ordination and full-time parish ministry in the ELCA.
