Orv and Lil Olson Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Orv and Lil Olson Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by their children, Robert D. Olson of Story City, Iowa, and by B. Delores Abrahamson of St. Paul, Minn., in 1980. This fund was established to honor the memory of Orville and Lillian Olson of Story City, Iowa, following their deaths. Orville J. and Lillian Olson, had a farm northwest of Story City, IA. They were very supportive of Luther Seminary and were concerned for the foreign mission of the church. They supported Lillian’s second cousin, a missionary in Madagascar, and other mission projects. Orville was born May 30, 1903. On Feb. 19, 1927, he and Lillian M. Townswick were married at her church, Bethel Lutheran Church, and were lifelong members. Lillian passed away in September 1977 and Orville in 1979. Dee Abrahamson was married to R. Paul Abrahamson who passed away in 2008. Paul was a graduate of the University of WI and a print broker. Dee graduated from St. Olaf College and Fairview Hospital and worked as an obstetrics nurse.This fund provides important financial support for Deserving international students who intend to return to their home country to serve in rural settings; for a missionary in agricultural development assisting communities by setting up co-ops for local products or other similar ventures.
