Robert S. and Jean M. Spong Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Robert S. and Jean M. Spong Endowed Scholarship Fund was established on December 11, 2004, by Robert and Jean Spong. Robert and Jean are longtime members of Christ the King Lutheran Church in New Brighton, Minn., where they have served as active lay leaders. They have benefitted from the ministry of strong, effective leaders among the ordained and lay staff, and want to ensure that in the future their congregation and the wider church will continue to have excellent leaders. This fund was established to give thanks to God as an expression of their stewardship and to help Luther Seminary students prepare to extend and share the good news of Jesus Christ during their lives of service to the church. This fund provides important support for financially deserving students with preference for members of Christ the King Lutheran Church in New Brighton, Minn.
