Irvin O. Jacobson Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Irvin O. Jacobson Endowed Scholarship Fund was established on December 2, 1999, by Lois and Newell “Bud” Nelson in honor of Lois’s father, Irvin O. Jacobson. Irvin was a 1923 graduate of Luther Theological Seminary. Lois and Bud are strong lay leaders at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minn. They appreciate having strong, caring pastors on the staff there, and want the whole church to benefit from well-prepared pastors. The fund was established to support the preparation of church leaders so that the ministries of Jesus Christ will be strengthened and extended in the church and the world. This fund provides important support for deserving Lutheran students preparing to serve in ministry within a congregation.
