Brede and Siri Sander Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Brede and Siri Sander Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by Brede and Siri’s daughter, Emma Pendleton, in 1986. Emma was grateful for the strong Christian faith of her parents and wanted to establish a fund in their memory to help educate future leaders for the church. Emma was raised in Howard, S.D. and was active in her congregation, Belleview Lutheran Church, especially in singing. She lived her adult life in Chicago, Ill., as an accountant for the Internal Revenue Service, but upon retirement returned to Howard, S.D., where she lived until her death in 1991. This fund provides important financial support for deserving students enrolled in the Master of Divinity degree program.
