Helen M. Hansen Doctoral Student Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Helen M. Hansen Doctoral Student Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by Helen M. Hansen. Helen was an active lay leader in her congregation, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Valley City, N.D., who recognized Luther Seminary as an important training ground for future church leaders. Her former pastor, the Rev. Arthur Jothen, served as the Associate Director of Development at Luther Theological Seminary in the late 1970s and early 1980s. She established this fund to express her thanksgiving to God and to help Luther Seminary students prepare to strengthen and extend the ministries of Jesus Christ in the church and the world. Helen died in July, 1985. This fund provides important financial support for deserving Th.D. and Ph.D. students.
