Lovell International Students Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Lovell International Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in January, 1988, by Elva B. Lovell. Elva was a resident of the neighborhood surrounding Luther Seminary, and enjoyed personal friendships with many of its faculty, staff, and students. She was especially close to Dr. Terence Fretheim, the Elva B. Lovell Professor of Old Testament, and the Rev. Arvid Bidne, a former Luther Seminary staff member. Elva was an active lay leader in her congregation, Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, and recognized Luther Seminary as an important training ground for future church leaders. This fund provides important financial support for deserving international students.
