Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Austin, MN Endowed Scholarship Fund at Luther Seminary

Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin, Minnesota, was established in 1953 by Pastor Glennys Knutson to serve the needs of Christians in the growing community of Austin. Pastor Knutson served as Senior Pastor of the church until 1987. In 2005 Myrtle Knudson established a Seminary Scholarship at Our Savior’s to help members who have been called to serve God and Jesus attend seminary. Betty Hahn expanded on the ability of the scholarship to help those being called in 2008. After several years of the scholarship being underutilized in 2024, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church moved to establish the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Austin, Minnesota Endowed Scholarship Fund at Luther Seminary. The purpose is to better assist and help those called to serve God during their educational process.

The purpose of this fund is to provide scholarships annually to full-time students from Austin, MN or members of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Grace Lutheran Church, or St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Austin, Minnesota; with a second preference for full-time students who reside in or are members of churches in the ELCA Southeast Minnesota Synod area; or a third preference for full-time students from Minnesota as first priority, or from surrounding states including Wisconsin, lowa, South Dakota, and North Dakota.
